Born in 1949 Robert started drawing from the age of five. Trained at St. Martin's School of Art and Design in London, he went on to gain a wealth of experience from working for several top London art studios, where he developed his unique style of illustration, with an eye for detail. This professional training, with some of the best commercial artists in Britain at the time, taught him very important work ethics for achieving success in the extremely competitive world of art.
In his twenties Robert expanded his talents into graphics and packaging design, being employed as an Art Director by some prestigious design and marketing companies. He changed direction again by running large studios for corporate food and drink companies, such as Cadbury Schweppes, Birds Eye Frozen Foods and Walls Ice Cream.
In his thirties Robert started his own Design and Marketing Consultancy, situated in cental London and later in Surrey. Once again working for many major brands in the United Kingdom, Europe and USA. These included an international pet food manufacturer and a worldwide toy and confectionary company. At this stage of his life Robert learned the joy of working with animals and children, who said you should never work with them!
At the grand old age of 50! Robert decided to turn his back on the humdrum world of advertising and marketing and return to his first love of fine art and illustration. He has now been running his studio on the Isle of Wight for several years and has never been happier. He lives near his studio with his lovely wife Carole and his inspirational dog Jake, not forgetting four 'twenty somethings' that come and go. He is soon to be a grandfather for the first time.
